The website development industry is largely unregulated. The net result is that there are numbers of cowboys and cowgirls out there who are concerned more about the dollars they think they can quickly generate from doing web business than they are about customer satisfaction. Many website developers are young, often with good knowledge of the basics of website design, but with relative immaturity in meeting customer expectations and poor communicators.
A case in point: the web developer who designed and delivered a homestay website on the Joomla Content Management System (CMS). This person did not pass ownership of the Domain to the client and never gave him access to the CMS to do his own editing - both highly irregular actions. The result was that when the website owner expressed dis-satisfaction, the developer disappeared and abandoned the website and the owner. Our task was to restore the owner's faith in the industry as we built a replica website on the Woogloo CMS, using their domain name and training them to use the CMS soon after the website was launched. We look forward over time to proving to this sceptical client that ongoing service, satisfaction and goodwill can be found in the NZ website development industry.

Terry Alve is the managing director of Value Websites. He has been designing websites since 1999, and marketing online since 2002. He established MyURL Web Services in 2005 incorporating it into Value Websites Limited in 2008. Apart from drawing support from the Woogloo family, Terry networks with graphic designers, audio-visual specialists and other website developers, marketers and consultants from throughout New Zealand.
Value Websites are located in Tawa, Wellington, NZ. Terry is available to travel anywhere in NZ to assist with your website development project. However, most website development work can be done from Value Websites' Wellington office using modern communications methods.
